A clear starting point for Santa Su families

Use this quick reference for common questions about registration, schedules, equipment, teams, safety, and volunteering. Use LeagueApps for account-specific information, live schedules, payments, and official registration status.

Registration and refunds

How do I register my player?

Registration and payment are completed through Santa Su's LeagueApps registration page (opens in a new tab). Create or sign in to an account, add the player profile, choose the active program, and follow its prompts.

When are registration fees due?

Fees are due in LeagueApps when registration is submitted. An unpaid registration may not hold a roster spot, so complete the payment steps shown in the official flow.

What is the refund policy?

The current public policy asks families to email written requests to secretary@santasu.com, notes a $20 processing fee, and says refunds are not issued after teams are formed. Confirm the current policy before payment.

What forms of payment does Santa Su accept?

Santa Susana Baseball accepts cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Registration itself is completed and paid through LeagueApps; talk to the treasurer or the secretary if you need to arrange another method.

When will a refund not be granted?

Refunds are not issued for any of the following:

  • Dissatisfaction with assigned practice times or team placement.
  • Games or practices cancelled because of weather.
  • A player deciding not to play after teams are selected.
  • A player choosing to take part in a different program instead.

Once a player is registered the league has already committed money on their behalf, including PONY registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Late withdrawals also make it harder to recruit coaches and keep teams balanced.

Season timing and scheduling

When do the Spring and Fall seasons begin?

Spring typically begins around the third weekend in February. Fall typically begins around the second weekend in September; Fall 2026 is currently listed for September 12 through November 7.

Where are games and practices held?

Most activity takes place at the Santa Susana Baseball complex, 4333 Township Ave in Simi Valley. Supplemental practices may use Township Elementary School or Valley View Middle School when approved.

What days and times will my player practice?

Team managers set practice days and times based on field availability. One or two practices per week is a common pattern, not a guarantee. Coaches communicate the team's schedule directly.

Where do I find games and live schedule changes?

Use the LeagueApps calendar (opens in a new tab) and team communications for live games, practices, reschedules, and cancellations.

Evaluations, drafts, and placement

Does my player need to attend evaluations?

Current public guidance calls for players in Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony to attend. Evaluations help managers draft fair, balanced teams. Official dates and division times are announced seasonally.

How are teams chosen?

Division managers draft teams with balance and fair competition in mind. Evaluations give managers a shared look at registered players before that process.

Can I request a coach, teammate, or special placement?

Requests may be considered but are not guaranteed. Siblings playing in the same division are placed together whenever feasible. Contact playeragent@santasu.com for eligibility or placement questions.

When will we hear from a coach?

Managers generally contact players and families after division drafts are complete. Watch the email and phone details attached to your LeagueApps account.

Divisions and equipment

Which division will my player join?

Start with the age ranges on the Divisions page. LeagueApps applies the active season's age date, April 30, 2027 for Fall 2026, and the league confirms final eligibility and placement.

What equipment does my player need?

A team jersey and hat are currently included with registration.

Families provide a glove, bat, helmet, cleats, and appropriate protective gear. Managers communicate team pant, sock, and belt colors at the beginning of the season.

Safety, weather, and league rules

What rules govern games?

Santa Su follows official MLB rules except where PONY Baseball rules apply, with approved Santa Susana local rules taking precedence where they modify both. Coaches receive the current authoritative resources.

What happens when weather affects the fields?

The field team monitors conditions and communicates through division managers, LeagueApps, email, and text when needed. Keep account communications enabled and wait for an official update rather than assuming a game or practice is canceled.

What should families know about the complex?

The complex is substance-free, seed-free, and designed around player safety. Dogs, wheels, food in dugouts, field access, and batting-cage use have specific rules. Review the current field guidance before visiting.

How competitive is the league?

Both seasons matter, but they do different jobs. Fall is the relaxed, development-focused season: coaches teach the basics, players try new positions, and the emphasis is on confidence and fundamentals rather than the scoreboard.

Spring is the main competitive season. Games are more structured, and the focus shifts to team play, strategy, and building on what was learned in the Fall. Playing both gets the most out of a year at Santa Su.

Volunteering

How can a family help?

Santa Su is powered by volunteer coaches, team parents, scorekeepers, field crews, board members, event volunteers, and community supporters. Visit the Volunteer page or email volunteers@santasu.com.

All Stars and Stingrays

What are Santa Su All Stars?

All-Star teams give players in participating divisions an opportunity to represent Santa Su in summer competition. Interest, evaluations, divisions, schedules, and selection details are announced seasonally.

What are the Stingrays?

Stingrays are Santa Su's higher-competition in-house tournament opportunity for selected age groups. Ages, fees, schedules, roster openings, and the relationship to rec participation vary by season; the current LeagueApps listing governs.
